We have been having lots of fun learning about place value over the last 2 weeks. We used lollipop sticks and tens and units blocks/rods in class to practise making bundles of ten. We then moved our learning out into the sun where we expanded numbers into tens and units and wrote these on the ground using chalk. We also played place value bean bag toss where you had to throw bean bags into 2 baskets, one was for tens and the other for units. We then counted up the tens and units and got our score. Finally we used cubes and tens and units notation boards drawn with chalk to show a number in terms of tens and units. When the weather changed this week we made place value robots in class and used all of what we practised out in the yard to show a number in 4 different ways. We have really enjoyed learning all about place value!
