We had both our under 11 boys and girls teams taking part in county finals last week.
The girls were unlucky to come up against a very strong Boherlahan NS team. Our girls battled bravely but were narrowly defeated in the end. The game was played in stormy conditions in New Inn but the weather didn’t hamper the standard of football on display.
Our boys team defeated Cloughjordan NS in their final played in Littleton on Friday. The boys played superb football and needed to be at their best to get the better of a gallant Cloughjordan side. Again, the standard of football on display was a credit to both sets of players as the conditions were far from ideal. We were delighted to have a familiar face in Mr.Wrenn presenting our captain with the trophy after the game.
Both teams were given a fantastic homecoming by their very proud school mates! We were lucky to have fantastic support for both teams. They were vocal throughout each game and very positive and supportive of the teams.
A massive thank you must go to Úna Kennedy, Mr.Luby, Mr.Ryan, Ms.O’Connell, Ms.Butler and Ms.Hayes for their work in preparing our GAA teams this year.
Thanks also to Cleirhan Ladies Football Club and Cleirhan GAA Club for sponsoring a McDonald’s for both sides after their finals. This was a lovely treat for both sets of players and is really appreciated by everyone in the school.
